Yet Another Photographic First
Hmmm. This is turning into a serial. First, Iresine rhizomatosa, then Saturn, now this. Learning to use the camera remote control is easy. Mission accomplished!
Yepper. It's really stoopid. To get the dang thing to work you have to point the remote at the sensor on the front of the camera. Also, you have to have the camera set on some special settings and also push a tiny button on the top of the camera before you click the remote. I'm not sure yet how close you have to be to the camera for the remote to operate. The steps I had to go through to take this one picture were pretty stoopid too. First, the basic hard copy of the camera manual doesn't tell you anything about the remote. Doesn't even mention it. So I went on the internet to find a copy of the Olympus C 5060 "Digital Camera Reference Manual". Second, the PDF file of this document crashed my computer 3 times, plus it wasn't easy to find. Third, finally one of the sites informed me that this particular manual was on the CD that came with my camera. Fourth, I had a good deal of trouble finding that particular CD.
Then there's the separate issue of the remote control battery. Night before last, I turned the camera on without knowing about the special settings and button and shot the remote at it several times. Nothing happened, the camera just sat there, and I thought the remote control battery was dead. So yesterday morning, before I did steps 1-4, I went to Target and purchased a new camera battery. Now I have two of those and both of them work if the special settings are set and the little button on top of the camera is pushed in, stoopid.
