Comet Lovejoy, Yeah!

Many surmised Crumby was dead.  Not yet.  Others quit, the Ovate persists.

That spelled, Crumby was out tonight comet chasing.  Last night too, but the clouds intervened.  Not tonight though.  Comet Lovejoy is easy to locate in binoculars even in the light polluted skies of Stinky Valley with a quarter moon sailing nearby.   It's big and bright and lopsided but without a distinct tail.

Crumby first found it around 7:30.  He had to lay on the cold ground (better than in it) with nothing but a dog bed for comfort to find Triangulum which was close to zenith.   The comet was close to the base of Triangulum.

Then Crumby set up the Great Red Tube and espied the comet in 40mm, 20mm and 20mm with 2x barlow.  Plossls.  Nice as the power increased but not much more detail.

After Downton Abbey Crumby shall return for another look.

Addendum:  No luck with the asteroid on the night of January 26-27.  Too cloudy.
