Cloudy Nights Got You Astronomers Down? Not a Botanical Problem
Yepper. We got plenty of stars to look at under the microscope at the CB. This happens to be the stellate pubesence of Lesquerella argyraea if we have keyed it out properly. It is, alas, from Edwards County, which would have it well outside its normal range; central and south Texas plus NE Mexico. However, we have our reasons fro calling it L. argyraea.
The hairs on these are hard to photograph because they occur at variable heights and the rays are layered, so the camera has a hard time autofocusing. Perhaps I will try manual focus. Nevertheless, on the top ones in focus it is hard to see any bifurcation compared to the previous entry, L. gordonii.
