Tiny Wing Thunder

Mercy!  Once again, literally dozens of neotropical migrants are headed this way.  Consequently,  the semi-avid birders at the CB are very excited by the annual phenomena and show put on by Class Aves.  Already we have altered our behavior patterns to increase our prospects for interaction with the variously sized but comparatively Liliputian wanderers. For example, Ray espied the season's first hummingbird at the Aesculus pavia four days ago.  Up went the hummingbird feeder.  Yet no more hummers have appeared since, yet, whether at the feeder or the buckeye.

A Class Aves project this spring has been to seek out swallow nests in these parts.  So far we know where there are plenty of cliff swallow, a few barn swallows, but no cave swallows.  Where do the cave swallows reported for Stinky Valley reside?  Are they really, cave swallows?

Below is a picture of a bullfrog at the Stinky Valley Pet Smart pond.  There are a good many, highly vocal bullfrogs at that particular pond.  Do they ever catch cave swallows?  Mercy!
