Crumby, Ecologer Mode - Fill Dirt
Ray goes by this pile of fill dirt every seventh day on the way to and from the delicious cinnamon bun vendor. Sometimes, if I am not busy ovating, I go along. So there we were, my bosom companion and me, going along when Ray remarks, Crumby, nearly all the botany on that fill dirt is nativist botany.
That remark perked me up and I replied. Let’s go see.
Sure enough that fill dirt was covered with just about all native weeds. Besides the four obvious natives in the picture there are a great many additional native weeds and only a couple of foreigners. Go figure, I speculated. Where would the dang AISD get any almost clean fill dirt?
But what really perked Ray and me up is the handy seed source for our presumptive thistle patch. Right here we have plenty of Cirsium texanum plus Argemone aurantiacum seed to collect if nothing happens to them between now and when they are seed fixed. There is also some Rhynchosida physocalyx that might like life at the CB. However, we shall probably not want any of the Solanum rostratum.
