Ray's Thought for the Day - Foreign Policy for the Casually Uninformed but Opinionated

So! Maybe you are casually uninformed but opinionated. And you really, really, really want to pick a winning side to be on. That’s right, you can’t root for the winner if you don’t know what side your on.

Take for example, Turks versus Kurds. US is supporting both sides. Take for example, the affable Pakistani dictator versus whomever. US is supporting both sides.

Old timey Yankee fans see through these dichotomies easily. Old timey Yankee fans will root for the probable winner every time. Those old timey Yankee fans knew they had a major league farm team, the KC A’s. Rooting like an old timey Yankee fan should be easy. Root for the Turks and the affable Pakistani dictator.

Yet US can make all the difference in which side wins. US is the most likely winner, always, almost. Whichever bunch US, backs, could likely upset the favored side, meaning that the Kurds and the Pakistani whomever could easily win.

Perhaps though, you are not an old timey Yankee fan. Perhaps, you have high- falluting opinions stemming from ideals, morals, ethics, what Jesus told you, investments in foreign parts, foreign parts kinfolk, underdog rooteritis. Yet all these extraneous elements may cloud your wits, fooling you into rooting for a loser.

That’s why we have the Decider! Yep, our ignoramus Kinglet shall decide which side you should root for, Turks versus Kurds, affable Pakistani dictator versus whomever. Yep, the Kinglet shall decide, for you! Certain it is, maybe, that the side(s) the Kinglet doles out the most of your taxes to, wins, maybe. So back the Kinglet. He shall pick a winner, maybe. Huh-huh.
