But My Bike's Too Slow

Crumby rode bikes like approximately 3000 miles during this Romite calendar year.  Mostly he rode a Trek 7100, 2008 issue.  Crumby's 7100 is old, heavy and slow.  So slow he may get passed by a cruiser if he's not paying attention.  Therefore, Crumby decided to get a new, faster bicycle.  But when Crumby started looking at new bikes, he soon realized that he would need to put all sorts of necessities on it, like a kickstand, fenders, basket, which would slow down his new bike and cost a bunch of extra money to boot.

So, though Crumby still needs a faster bike, he decided to keep his current bike a while longer, maybe forever, just updating the pedals, and the saddle.  The old left pedal was broke and the old oem saddle had a big rip in it.  Besides,  Crumby heard tell that old seat was designed by Vlad the Impaler.

So here's Crumby's old bike with new seat and pedals.

The old bike is as slow as ever, but the seat is a huge improvement and pedals are cooler.

New Bird for Cow Barn

Here is a slate-colored junco eating toasted sesame seeds.  Crumby feels like this may be the first ever of this denomination at the CB ever;  especially if it's the same one that was here twain days ago. Documentation photo through two layers of glass and a screen.

68 + 22 = winter solstice

Today, Crumby is celebrating the Winter Solstice.  That is, he has ridden upon tiny Planet Earth for 22 days and 68 years, the 22 days being the most recent of all that time.  To help him celebrate, Crumby purchased a present;  a Nashbar thermal skullcap.  Note the rheumy eyes, the double chin and the bad complexion of this particular hat model.  Mercy!  Goddess!  Mercy!  Well.  Just goes to show that discount stores can't afford the best young or handsome models.

The point of the new skullcap is to keep Crumby's ears warm on cool morning bike rides.  Alas, it has been too hot in these parts lately, so the skullcap has not had a test run yet.  Maybe the weather shall cool off a little, anon.

Here's to surviving winter in Texas, amidst the heavily armed, incestuous, cannibalistic cmjs.

68

Crumby has made it to 68.  That is, he has entered upon the great circle or ellipse, the functionally eternal route that Planet Earth is presently traversing through cold or cool space for a 68th journey.  Round Crumby goes. Shall he ride along to the end, alas?

Meantime, a couple of Crumby's comrades of the previous year's journey came up a little short.  These quitters include the wax seal on Crumby's personal commode in the Men's Room,  and the "harmonic equallizer" on Crumby's personal peecup.  Both these companions are now deceased. Plus,  the "harmonic equalizer" is still to be replaced, since,  I kid you not, the car parts distributor sent the wrong, "harmonic equalizer" to the repair shop.  I kid you not.

Yes.  Life as we know it continues to be barely worth living as, more and more, the ignorant, violent and obsolescent prevail.
